Dr. Kevin McWilliams
Bible and Intercultural Studies Professor, Columbia International University
Dr. Kevin McWilliams joined Columbia International University in 1996 and serves as the senior member of the Bible faculty in CIU’s College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees at CIU and his doctoral degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Dr. McWilliams’ area of focus is New Testament, although he also has taught many courses in intercultural studies. Students appreciate his excellent teaching ability, the energy he brings to his classes, and his enthusiasm for his subject matter. He sets high expectations in all his courses and challenges his students to be their best.
Outside the classroom, Dr. McWilliams and his wife regularly engage students both on- and off-campus, entertaining them in their home and attending many student social functions. Beyond CIU, he has traveled extensively and taught in many countries, including Barbados, Ukraine, Cameroon, Colombia, and much of western Europe.
Because CIU undergraduates major in Bible as well as a professional major, Dr. McWilliams impacts virtually every student who comes on campus. CIU President Dr. Bill Jones says about him, “Kevin McWilliams is a blessing to CIU on many levels. Students appreciate his care for them and his excellent teaching; teammates appreciate his collegiality and team spirit.” Provost Dr. James Lanpher adds, “Kevin’s passion for excellence is contagious, and his service a model for others.”
Dr. McWilliams and his wife have three adult children and four grandchildren, and are actively involved at Sandhills Community Church in Columbia, SC.
