Dr. Glenn Gentry, Columbia International University

Dr. Glenn Gentry earned his undergraduate degree at Multnomah University and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Baylor University. He completed four years of missionary service in Botswana, Africa and five years of local church ministry prior to coming to Columbia International University in 2005. Since that time, he has served as professor of philosophy and theology and as program director for CIU’s humanities major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Under Dr. Gentry’s leadership, the humanities program has grown, and CIU has sent many fine students on to graduate studies in philosophy and in other disciplines.

Students appreciate Dr. Gentry’s passion for his subject matter. His dean, Dr. Bryan Beyer, says about him, “Glenn is never content that his students merely know the answer to a question; rather, he pushes them to make sure they understand how they arrived at their answer.” Indeed, he is as much interested in the process as he is in the destination. CIU provost Dr. James Lanpher adds, “Glenn Gentry is passionate  about educating CIU students to think critically and to engage the culture biblically.” Course evaluations consistently reveal student appreciation for Dr. Gentry’s excellence in the classroom.

Dr. Gentry and his wife have four adult children, and are actively involved at Church of the Apostles in Columbia.
