SCICU News & Notes are a series of online newsletters that include updated information about our 20 member colleges and universities. Our News & Notes also include up-to-date articles about certain legislation that may affect funding for our member institutions.
SCICU’s 2018-19 College Guide is a great resource for students and their parents in selecting the college or university in South Carolina that meets each student’s unique combination of intellectual, personal, and financial needs. The guide is full of detailed information regarding each of the 20 SCICU member colleges and universities, including admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid, school visitation dates, and more. South Carolina financial aid (merit scholarships and tuition grants) and federal programs (Pell grants, loans, GI Bill, etc.) are also available in the guide.
Printed copies are mailed to all high school counselors in South Carolina, and the digital guide is always available on the SCICU website.

Each year SCICU’s Public Policy Committee issues its legislative priorities and strategic plan. Relevant matters presented in the plan include general and special appropriations for student grants and scholarships, legislation related to higher education, postsecondary students, and non-profit organizations, and education-related public policy issues before agencies, boards, and commissions. In addition to recognizing the many donors, friends, and partners who have given so generously to SCICU for scholarships and programs, the annual report presents the organization’s audited financial condition for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2018, salutes the SCICU McLean-Smith Student of the Year and the Excellence in Teaching award winners, and celebrates SCICU’s accomplishments during its 64th year of promoting independent higher education.

Elliott Davis LLC performs annual audits of SCICU’s financial statements. The annual audit results in a report that includes a statement of revenues, expenses, and changes in net assets along with information about investments, contributions, gifts, and awards.

SCICU, recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is required to annually file IRS Form 990. The IRS Form 990 is a publicly-available tax return that non-profit organizations file annually to document revenues, expenses, governance, and business and charitable activities.
